G-Braves Game Notes for 4.27.12
After taking two of three on a brief three-game homestand against Charlotte, the Gwinnett Braves are back on the road for a two-city, eight-game road trip. First up, it’s a meeting with the IL West Division-leading Toledo Mud Hens (14-6) at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, OH. The G-Braves come in with an IL South-best 14-7 record, so the four-game series sets up to be a battle of two of the International League’s best clubs.
Left-hander Yohan Flande takes the baseball for game one tonight, looking to extend upon his 15.2-inning scoreless streak. Each of Flande’s three starts for the G-Braves have resulted in shutout victories, but this time around he’ll be facing a potent Toledo offense that leads the league in runs scored (120) while ranking ranks second in both batting average (.281) and home runs (26).
Jordan Parraz (.457 over his last 10 games) and the G-Braves will hope to feast offensively against Mud Hens’ lefty Ramon Garcia tonight. Garcia was shelled for eight runs, six earned, over 4.0 innings in a loss to Columbus his last time out.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM, tune in to the radio broadcast with Tony Schiavone on WDUN 550 AM and 102.9 FM and online as well at WDUN.com.
