G-Braves Steal Game 1 on Luis Durango Walk-off Single

The Gwinnett Braves centerfielder Luis Durango is absolutely on fire right now. The speedster is not only leading the International League in stolen bases with 18 in 20 attempts, but he is starting to come around at the plate as well. Durango would of been the hero of Thursday’s game if it wasn’t for a blown save in the ninth by the G-Braves. Durango’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the G-Braves a 3-1 lead over Buffalo yesterday, but it would be for not as the G-Braves won in extra innings.
Nevertheless, the speedy centerfielder made up for it in a large way in Friday’s first game of a doubleheader. Knotted up in a tie game, 2-2, with two outs in the final frame (seventh inning) of Game 1, Durango laced an RBI single into right field for the Gwinnett 3-2 victory. With the run-scoring hit, he now has four RBI in his last two games including two would-be game-winning hits.
Not to mention the man is playing exceptional defense in centerfield, especially on Friday night when he made not one, but two extraordinary grabs. The leadoff hitter for the G-Braves is starting to find his groove at the plate alongside his battery mates of Jose Constanza and Stefan Gartrell, which is only bad news for the rest of the IL. If Durango can continue his recent success, look out for the G-Braves offensive attack in the coming months.
