The Gwinnett Braves began their nine-game homestand in eight days on Thursday night with a loss to Columbus. Jair Jurrjens made one mistake in the game and it wound up costing him and the G-Braves when Russ Canzler blasted a grand slam in the sixth for the Clippers 4-0 victory. The G-Braves will host the Columbus Clippers (June 14-17) for five games and the International League West leading Indianapolis Indians (June 18-21) for four games.

Gwinnett (35-32) and Columbus (31-35) will play a doubleheader at Coolray Field on Friday night, first pitch of game one scheduled for 5:05 PM. The doubleheader will consist of two seven-inning contests separated by a half-hour break, with Gwinnett to act as the home team in game one and the road team in game two.

Actually Jurrjens pitched strikes that were called BALLS in the 6th – I was there – I saw it. It was the REF who made the mistake and JJ paid for it.
