The Gwinnett Braves began their nine-game homestand in eight days on Thursday night with a loss to Columbus. However, Gwinnett managed to stay composed as they swept the doubleheader on Friday, 4-0 and 8-3. Todd Redmond went the distance for the complete-game victory in the first game and then Eric Junge was victorious in the second game for the G-Braves after an offensive explosion. Gwinnett moved their record to 37-32 on the season with the back-to-back wins over Columbus.

Luis Durango and Tyler Pastornicky led the offense with a combined total of nine hits between them. Pastornicky finished the second game with four hits and five RBI. Durango went 3-for-3 in the first game with two runs scored and he added two more stolen bases to his International League leading 26 steals in 33 attempts for the season.

The G-Braves will host the Columbus Clippers (June 14-17) for two more games before the International League West leading Indianapolis Indians (June 18-21) visit Lawrenceville for four games to conclude Gwinnett’s current nine-game homestand.

Friday, June 15 Starting Line-up from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia:

The Gwinnett Braves (37-32) and Columbus Clippers (31-37) will play the fourth game of their five-game series on Saturday night at Coolray Field, first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Right-hander Julio Teheran (5-2, 3.15) is scheduled to start for the G-Braves, while the Clippers counter with right-hander Zach McAllister (4-2, 2.98). The game will be broadcast on WDUN 550 AM and 102.9 FM in Gainesville, GA with Tony Schiavone calling the play-by-play.

6.16.12 GBraves Game Notes

Teheran last appeared in a game on Sunday afternoon for the Atlanta Braves. The No. 2 prospect in minor league baseball was promoted to make a spot-start for Tim Hudson against the Toronto Blue Jays from Turner Field. The G-Braves ace right-hander was untouchable the first four innings on Sunday, but surrendered four runs in the fifth and exited the game with the no decision. Regardless, the 2012 Triple-A All-Star candidate is hungry to get back to his winning ways. Teheran’s last victory came the start before his Braves spot-start, against the Charlotte Knights on June 3. Gwinnett’s ace went the distance for his first career complete-game victory, as he allowed just one run all game.
